AIIMS INI-CET January 2027 Sponsored Category: Eligibility, Certificate, Deadlines and Institute-Specific Rules

Updated 30 October 2026. The INI-CET sponsored category is intended for eligible candidates formally sponsored by authorized government or public-sector employers. It is not an admission-through-donation route. Institute-specific prospectuses and the current session’s official seat position govern eligibility and allocation.

1. Which institutions are covered?

INI-CET is used for postgraduate admission at participating Institutes of National Importance. Sponsored-category conditions differ across AIIMS, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru and other participating institutes. The candidate must check the particular institute’s Part-B prospectus and sponsored seat-position notice; availability cannot be assumed for every institute or specialty.

2. Who can be sponsored?

AIIMS’ published Part-B sponsored-candidate rules have allowed permanent employees of Central/State Governments, Armed Forces, public-sector undertakings and autonomous bodies to be sponsored by competent authorities. The applicable current prospectus controls. Tenure, ad-hoc, contract, honorary and leave-vacancy appointments are excluded under the official AIIMS sponsorship-certificate instructions; private hospitals cannot issue an acceptable government sponsorship certificate.

3. Sponsorship certificate: not an ordinary NOC

A candidate must use the prescribed sponsorship proforma, with the competent authority’s signature and seal. The certificate should specify the appropriate institute and specialty and match the online application. AIIMS instructions describe a dynamically generated certificate/proforma; altering the prescribed format can invalidate sponsorship. Original documentation may be required at admission. A general departmental NOC is not necessarily a substitute.

4. Important January 2027 dates

The January 2027 session schedule lists 30 October 2026, 5:00 PM as the deadline to upload the scanned sponsorship certificate and 1 November 2026 as the examination date. As of this editorial update, no extension is claimed. Candidates should confirm the current schedule directly on AIIMS Exams, including any corrigendum, and should not assume the deadline remains open after 5 PM.

5. Subject and institute restrictions

AIIMS’ published sponsored rules describe sponsorship for a single subject, potentially at more than one eligible AIIMS for that subject. The subject must correspond to a notified sponsored seat. State sponsorship for AIIMS may also involve a certificate about non-availability of the postgraduate course in the sponsoring state under the applicable institute rules. These conditions must be checked against the January 2027 Part-B prospectus and seat-position notice before submission.

6. Pay, study leave and service bond

Under the published AIIMS sponsored rules, sponsored trainees are not paid emoluments by the institute; the sponsoring authority is responsible. The employer may separately require study leave, deputation, bond, post-training service and other permissions. Obtain a written departmental sanction, not merely verbal approval.

7. Does sponsorship remove the entrance exam?

No. Sponsored candidates must follow the prescribed INI-CET examination and allocation process. Sponsorship establishes a category of consideration, not guaranteed selection. Qualification, eligibility, rank, institute rules and seat availability all matter.

8. Institute-specific cautions

  • AIIMS: Check the applicable Part-B requirements for specialty, competent authority and non-availability certification.
  • PGIMER: Separate sponsorship/deputation provisions may apply to qualifying government medical colleges; verify the current prospectus.
  • JIPMER: Use JIPMER-specific seat-position and sponsorship conditions, not assumptions from AIIMS.
  • NIMHANS: Check subject-specific seat availability and post-training service undertakings.

9. Candidate checklist

  1. Read current Part-A and the intended institute’s Part-B prospectus.
  2. Confirm permanent/regular service and eligibility with the department.
  3. Check the sponsored seat-position notice for the exact subject and institute.
  4. Complete online registration and certificate upload within the notified window.
  5. Keep the original signed sponsorship certificate, NOC, service proof and academic records.
  6. Track admit card, examination, result, allocation and reporting instructions on AIIMS Exams.

10. Common errors

Using a generic NOC instead of the prescribed certificate; selecting a specialty absent from sponsored seats; relying on an expired certificate or older proforma; assuming contractual service qualifies; and assuming sponsorship guarantees a seat.
