MedBodh Regulatory Update | Published: 28 October 2026 | Source notice: 26 October 2026
CDSCO has published a notice concerning misleading or false claims for FatX solution in relation to a cosmetic import registration held by M/s Tekno Midas Aesthetics (registration reference RC/COS-003300). This is an important distinction for aesthetic clinics: registration of a cosmetic product is not equivalent to regulatory authorization to treat fat cells or deliver an injectable medical procedure.
At a glance
- Authority: CDSCO, Cosmetics Division.
- Notice date: 26 October 2026.
- Named product: FatX solution.
- Issue: Claims considered misleading or false in the context of cosmetic registration.
- Key principle: A product’s regulatory category determines which therapeutic claims are permissible.
Cosmetic claim versus therapeutic claim
Words such as “dissolves fat cells” or “treats localized fat deposits” imply a physiological treatment effect rather than ordinary cosmetic appearance or cleansing. Such claims require examination under the applicable Indian regulatory framework. A promotional brochure or social-media advertisement does not substitute for a regulatory approval document.
What clinicians should verify before offering a procedure
- Intended route: Confirm whether the particular product is authorized for the proposed use and route; a cosmetic label does not authorize injection.
- Indications: Ask for current approved labelling and any applicable drug/device authorization rather than relying on promotional language.
- Traceability: Record manufacturer/importer, batch number, certificate details and supplier invoice.
- Safety: Review adverse-event reporting pathways, informed consent, training and emergency response capability.
- Patient communication: Clearly distinguish approved treatments from experimental, off-label or unsupported marketing claims.
For patients
Do not assume that “registered,” “imported,” “professional use” or “clinically proven” means a fat-dissolving procedure has been authorized in India. Before any injection or invasive aesthetic treatment, request the product’s approved indication, the treating clinician’s credentials and an explanation of risks, alternatives and expected evidence of benefit.
What we are not claiming
This report does not claim a nationwide product recall, proven harm in every user or automatic cancellation of all registrations. Those actions require their own explicit official orders. Readers should examine the full 26 October notice before drawing product-specific legal or regulatory conclusions.
